ie VIENNA DESIGN WEEK makes Vienna a must-see and a space for design. At the eleventh edition of Austria’s largest design festival, the Wiener Stadthalle offers exciting insights into architecture and behind the scenes.
Wiener Stadthalle – stage for art & design
Roland Rainer, with the Hall D, opened in 1958, created one of the most important buildings of Austrian architecture, which is unaffected in its substance and presented in an contemporary architectural style. The Austrian star architect also designed large parts of the interior – now legendary are the stackable Stadthallensessel and the Rainer wardrobe. The importance of contemporary art in the construction of the event center is underscored by the Viennese Stadthalle, which is partly exposed and partly integrated into everyday life.
For a look behind the scenes and on the numerous art objects, backstage tours can be booked all year round, which offer exciting insights into the almost 60-year history of the Viennese Stadthalle.
